Elul Reflections - High Holy Days 2024 Rabbi Koppell
There are less than 10 days until Rosh HaShanah. What a joy it will be to see so many people I care about coming together to usher in a new year with all of its potential. More than the prayers and the evocative melodies, more than the opportunity for reflection and renewal, for repentance and repair, more than the opportunity to share words of wisdom, more than any of it, the thing I am most looking forward to is seeing our community. Tradition suggests that every letter of the Torah represents one soul among the people of Israel. And if even one letter is missing, the Torah is incomplete. How comforting to be with each other in a place that is safe and secure, a haven in our troubled world. To see people who love and accept us for who we are and with whom we can be open, sharing our wounded hearts. To see the faces of beloved friends. As we enter into the year 5785, I want to see you and greet you and wish you a healthy and sweet year. (I understand that not everyone can be with us in person, and if you are joining us virtually we will be thinking of you!)- Rabbi Bonnie Koppell
