​Jonathan Miller is a native of California and married to Penny who is originally from New York.  They have two children Madison (21) and Jason (23) are both graduates of Colorado State University and live in Fort Collins, CO.  Madison is a kindergarten teacher and Jason is a Program Director for a youth activity center
 
Jonathan is the Managing Partner of Miller Wolman CPAs PLLC.  With over 30 years’ experience as a Certified Public Accountant in business and tax services Jonathan and his professional team are able to integrate their four core capabilities: strategic business planning, corporate structure, tax planning and compliance to provide you or your business with solutions that fit your specific needs. Jonathan is also experienced working with CEOs, Professional Athletes and Entertainers as a Business Manager.  Jonathan and Penny have been members for over 20 years at Temple Chai.  Jason and Madison both attended the ERC, went through all the years of Hebrew school, had their Bar and Bat Mitzvah’s at Temple Chai as well as being confirmed.   Jonathan is a new member to the board and hopes to bring his financial consulting experience to Temple Chai.

​Alan Zeichick, VP of Administration, has found his Arizona community at Temple Chai, and loves that the congregation is so warm, welcoming, spiritual, and brings Judaism to life.

A tech media entrepreneur, Alan and his wife Carole retired to Phoenix in 2013, after nearly 25 years in the San Francisco Bay Area. A few years later, though, Alan un-retired and now works for Oracle as the editor of Java Magazine.

In Greater Phoenix, Alan is on the boards of the Jewish Community Resource Council and of the Jewish Federation, and currently serves on the Ethics Committee for the Central Conference of American Rabbis (CCAR). Alan is a former board member of Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion (HUC-JIR) and the Union for Reform Judaism (URJ).
Alan and Carole are empty-nesters: Their son, daughter-in-law, and beautiful grandkittens live in Northern California.

​Born Detroit; educated at Univ of Michigan, Yale School of Medicine x 2 and the University of Pennsylvania. Currently retired after practicing medicine in the valley since 1981.  Accomplishments include 13 patents, many professional awards including a lifetime achievement award from the Am Society of Diagnostic and Interventional Nephrology (a field which he was instrumental in establishing). Member Temple Chai about 35 years. Involvement in the community include being on the Board of the Federation and Foundation, chairing the major gifts campaign of the Federation as well as becoming campaign chair. Currently on the boards of Temple Chai and the ADL. 

​Meaghan is a civil rights lawyer at the Arizona Center for Disability Law (ACDL), where she is the Managing Attorney for the healthcare team. Through her work at ACDL, Meaghan targets systemic issues affecting Arizonans with disabilities in healthcare, voting, and employment matters. A long-time mental health and disability advocate, Meaghan is the former Chair of The Centers for Habilitation, the largest non-profit supporting developmentally and intellectually disabled Arizonans. She serves on the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners, the local Ryan White Planning Council, and the Phoenix Mayor’s Commission on Disability Issues. Meaghan is also involved with NCJW Arizona and the organization's fight for reproductive justice in our state. Meaghan presents and writes on issues related to Arizona’s healthcare system, employment discrimination, and unconscious bias in the workplace. She has degrees in Public Administration, and Law from the University of Arizona. 
 
Meaghan and her wife Emily joined Temple Chai because of the community's commitment to inclusive judaism and social justice. They live in north central Phoenix with their dog, Frankie.

​David Weiner has followed in his father’s footsteps in operating their Insurance Agency that focuses on Employee Benefits along with Life and Health Insurance with offices in the Chicago area since 1959. After moving to Phoenix in 1983 he became involved with the Jewish Federation where he served in many roles and was Co-Chair from 20017-2020. In addition to this David Chaired the Phoenix Chapter of AIPAC in the late 90’s and served on AIPAC’s National Board and later Chaired the Jewish Community Foundation. Currently David serves on the board of the community wide Oasis High School which expects to have their first class in 2023 and is on the Board of Governors of the Jewish Agency for Israel in Jerusalem. David has gained invaluable experience from these different organizations that allows him to bring the best practices from so many different organizations to Temple Chai.
 
David has been a member since 1996 and three years ago had the privilege of having his wedding to Robert Weiner performed by Rabbi Koppel. Robert reminds David how welcoming Temple Chai has been to both of them and they value the social action spirit of the temple and caring and open ways of our community.   David joined the board in 2021 and is excited about the opportunity to help chart our future into our new home while welcoming the new leadership of Rabbi Segal. 

​Janice Dinner served as Senior Associate Counsel for 35 years for Banner Health before her retirement two years ago.  She currently serves as President of the Board of Jewish Family and Children’s Services.  She is past president of the Board of Temple Chai and the Arizona Association of Health Care Attorneys.  She has served on Temple Chai’s Board and Executive Committee on two occasions and is currently Past President.  She has also served on the Boards of the Alzheimer’s Association and Southwest Center of HIV and AIDS.  Janice is married to Dean Dinner and is the proud parent of three young men.  Janice and Dean came to Temple Chai when they were searching for a rabbi to marry them 36 years ago and have been members ever since.  

Zach Dunn has spent his entire career as a professional not-for-profit director, specializing in religious institutions. Most recently, he was the Executive Administrator for Plymouth Congregational Church in Miami, Florida. He also served as the Executive Director for Congregation Mishkan Tefila in Brookline, Massachusetts, one of the oldest Synagogues in New England. Prior to that, Zach was the Director of Operations for the First Church in Boston, one of the oldest churches in America.

A 2010 graduate of the University of Massachusetts in Boston, Zach holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology with a minor in History. He believes that his history in the church has been the best education he could have received. A self-proclaimed “Lifer”, Zach grew up in various church settings and has held various lay leadership roles, from lead vocalist on Sunday mornings all the way to board secretary. In his spare time, he enjoys musical theatre and barbershop singing!

​Zach and his wife Aimee have two children, Kaelib and Austin, and a whole host of animals. They are very much looking forward to being part of the Temple Chai community.

​Malka comes to Temple Chai with over 15 years of early childhood experience, passion, and advocacy. She has been teaching, mentoring, and developing youth art and Judaic programing in the world of early childhood education throughout our community since 2015. Her passion lies in creating quality experiences and connections for our youngest learners and teachers alike. She recently completed a three-year fellowship with the Sheva Center Leadership Institute that took her around the world studying in Reggio Emilia, Italy, Israel, Boulder CO, Portland OR, and San Francisco CA. Malka has ECC director certification through the National Louis University’s AIM4Excellence program.

While Malka has always had a love for children she hasn’t always been an educator. After graduating high school, Malka spent a year in Israel milking cows and working the land on Kibbutz Lotan. She has a degree in graphic design from The Creative Circus in Atlanta GA, and continues to tweak her design skills through the birthday cakes and Halloween costumes she creates for her children! Malka enjoys spending time in her private art studio, baking, and visiting our National Parks with her husband Ross and their three children, Bina, Aviv, and Elie. 

Malka has been a member of Temple Chai from the time she and her family moved to the Valley in 2015. Bina, Aviv, and Elie all graduated from the Temple Chai Early Childhood Center. Malka is grateful to be a part of this special community. 

​Rabbi Emily Segal is passionate about engagement and building relationships. She is a dynamic and skilled teacher who makes each person feel seen and known. A vocal advocate, Rabbi Segal is a justice leader who puts our values into action. An author and national leader, she is an important and rising voice in the Jewish world.

Prior to joining Temple Chai as its Senior Rabbi, Rabbi Segal served as the Rabbi of Aspen Jewish Congregation in the Roaring Fork Valley of Colorado.

 Previously she served as the Associate Rabbi of Temple Jeremiah in Northfield, Illinois, in the suburbs of Chicago.  Rabbi Segal grew up in a small, tight-knit Jewish community in Virginia, nurtured by one of the first woman rabbis, and she is the proud product of an interfaith home.  Seeing her father grow in love for Judaism and passion for Jewish learning and eventually become a Jew-By-Choice was formative in her development and her path in the rabbinate.  After graduating from the University of Virginia, her studies continued at the Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion where she was ordained in Cincinnati in 2010.  Rabbi Segal’s rabbinic thesis was entitled “Telling and Retelling: The Women’s Seder and Ritual Innovation.”

During her time in the rabbinate, Rabbi Segal is proud to have been a Balfour Brickner Social Justice Fellow, as well as a Clergy Leadership Incubator Fellow, focusing on leading dynamic change in congregations and organizations.  She also earned an Executive Certificate in Nonprofit Management from the Kellogg School at Northwestern as well as a certificate in supervision from the Central Conference of American Rabbis.  Rabbi Segal currently serves as Co-President of the Women’s Rabbinic Network (WRN), the international organization of Reform women rabbis which represents the more than 860 women, nonbinary, and genderfluid individuals who have been ordained in the Reform Movement and who serve Reform congregations.

Rabbi Segal’s rabbinic interests include Jewish environmental and food justice, liturgical development, ritual innovation, biblical Hebrew, Jewish feminism, Mussar (Jewish mindfulness practice) and scriptural and halakhic (Jewish law) study.  Her non-rabbinic interests include strong coffee, dark chocolate, good books, escapist baking, camping and paddle boarding, and live music.  She is married to Rabbi Scott Segal.  You can find them cooking together, dragging their young children (Samantha, 10, and Ezra, 7) on character-building hiking expeditions, and having family dance parties.

​Kelly Chaet joined the Temple Chai ECC staff in 2017 as an infant room teacher and stepped into the role of ECC Administrative & Operations Manager in May 2022. 
 
Kelly is from Tucson, AZ.  She went to the U of A, then Graduate school in California where she got her Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology.  She worked in the Adult mental health field for 11 years in Phoenix, prior to joining the team at Temple Chai. 
 
Both of Kelly’s sons attended the Temple Chai ECC from infant thru pre-k, and she felt very accepted and quickly became close with the staff and community.  Kelly loves working with preschool-age children, and working at Temple Chai has become her happy place.  She enjoys learning new ways to help children learn and witnessing their learning journey.
 
Kelly is currently enrolled in the B’nai Mitzvah class at Temple Chai.  She has been married to her husband Steven for 14 years.  They have two kids in elementary school as well as two cats.  Kelly loves kids, animals, music, reading, movies, and being outside.
