Job Opportunity: Accounts Receivable Specialist

The Accounts Receivable Specialist works in the Accounting Office and oversees the billing and collection for Temple Chai, the Religious School, and the Early Childhood Center. This person is responsible for managing incoming payments and properly tracking them into the appropriate systems to maintain accurate bookkeeping records. This is a part-time position for approximately 25 hours per week. 
Responsibilities:
Accounts Receivable:
  • Process all incoming payments – deposit checks, process ach and credit card payments.
  • Coordinate with Early Childhood Center staff on billing for the school.
  • Maintain monthly ach and credit card automatic payment batches for Temple Chai membership and Religious School payments.
  • Record payments in appropriate accounts in membership and accounting systems.
  • Follow up and resolve all declined payments.
  • Answer inquiries regarding account and payment status.
  • Research and resolve misapplied payments.
  • Research discrepancies between membership and accounting software.
  • Collect and maintain proper supporting documentation for all payments. 
  • Maintain accounts receivable files and records.
Accounting Office:
  • Assist with monthly account statements.
  • Assist with year-end donor receipts.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by management. 
Administrative Support:
  • Answer telephones at Temple Chai as needed.
Qualifications:
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Proficient in MS Office.
  • Must maintain confidentiality.
  • Must be able to move and/or set up tables, chairs, boxes or equipment weighing up to 50 lbs
Education/Skills:
  • College coursework in accounting (Preferred)
  • Accounts Receivable experience – 1 year (Preferred)

Leah Lyndon

Leah Lyndon comes to Temple Chai Early Childhood Center with over a decade of experience in the Early Childhood Education field. Leah has worked with children of all ages at, in a variety of capacities. After moving to Arizona in 2012 from South Florida. Leah began her journey at ASU studying speech pathology but ultimately knew this was not her path and landed a job at a preschool. This led to a life-time passion of working with children and families. 

In 2015 Leah went on her Birthright trip to Israel, which changed her path yet again, leading her to the realm of Jewish Early Childhood Education. From that time on Leah has held positions including Lead Teacher and Camp coordinator at the Martin Pear Jewish Community Center Early Child Center. Also, at the Jewish Community Center Leah worked at Shemesh Camp at The J as their Kindergarten through Fourth grade Supervisor planning trips, implementing quality systems, supporting staff, and building relationships with students and families. For a brief time, Leah also worked at Jewish Family and Children Services as a Youth and Family Specialist supporting families and children in behavioral goals, along with working with foster care families. Leah received her degree in Early Childhood Education in 2019. She is currently pursuing a certification to become an a national certified Early Childhood Director through the National Louis University’s AIM4Excellence program.

Leah is engaged to her fiancé Stephen and loves spending time with him and her their dog Luna. In her spare time Leah can be found relaxing at home watching a funny movie, or whipping up something in the kitchen! Leah truly loves the Temple Chai and the Temple Chai ECC community. She is excited to bring her knowledge and passion for Early Childhood to this thriving, open, and inclusive community!

Job Opportunity: Youth Director

Youth Director Position Description
The Youth Director at Temple Chai is responsible for the Temple Chai Youth Groups. This person develops programming and is a resource for teens at Temple Chai. Relationships are at the core of this role. They provide the basis for programs. This is a part-time position for approximately 5-10 hours per week, not including the summer months.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Direct oversight of Temple Chai’s teen youth programs, TCTY and TCTY Jr.
    • Organize and chaperone high school youth group activities at least once a month including empowering and guiding the teen leaders to take ownership of the youth program.
    • Involve the youth group in the wider congregation where appropriate.
  • Coordinate events with other Phoenix area Jewish youth groups.
  • Carry out contact and marketing between events on relevant social media platforms, via text message, email, and one to one/small group meetings with key youth leaders.
  • Build positive relationships with teens’ parents/guardians.
  • With Clergy support, oversee planning and implementation of High Holy Days services for teens on Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur.
  • Maintain an effective and secure filing system and database of participants. Ensure parental permission for participation is given where needed.
  • Create and implement budget for teen youth program.
  • Represent Temple Chai at appropriate community wide events.
 
Qualifications:
  • Experience with Jewish communal leadership.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Jewish traditions and practices, particularly those of Reform Judaism.
  • High-energy person, with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Able to create programs, set priorities, work independently, and adapt to changing circumstances.
  • Well-organized person who can motivate, delegate, and oversee to completion all programmatic tasks including working with other staff to create materials and market events to the congregation.
  • Schedule will be mostly nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must be able to move and/or set up tables, chairs, boxes, or equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
Education/Skills:
  • At least 3-years’ experience working with young people.
  • Computer literacy.
  • Experience using Social Media platforms.
  • Experience designing electronic flyers and invitations.
