Adult Education at Temple Chai

For Jews, life-long learning is a divine obligation and, just as Torah and the study of Torah are central to Jewish life, teaching and learning have been a vital part of our congregational life at Temple Chai since its inception.

We understand that the demands of daily life can be time consuming and Temple Chai has several learning opportunities that can fit into even the busiest schedule. We offer over a dozen adult education programs designed to meet the diverse interests of our congregants. Programs range from short-term mini-courses and brown-bag lunch discussions about various Biblical, Rabbinic, and modern topics to the comprehensive three year Advanced Studies program. There are Hebrew and Yiddush classes and programs that explore Jewish life on a deeper level, including the Family School, Shalom Center programs, Chai Experience Workshops, Rabbi/Cantor programs, and an Adult B'nai Mitzvah program. The Sunday morning Torah study group has met regularly for the past eighteen years. Many of our programs feature study with recognized teachers and scholars from renowned educational institutions such as the Shalom Hartmann Institute, C.L.A.L., and KiDMa as part of Temple Chai's Scholar-in-Residence programs.
